Saint Anselm College is located in the historical town of Goffstown, New Hampshire, situated just outside of major cities such as Boston. School History
Founded in 1889 by the Benedictines, the world’s oldest religious group, Saint Anselm College developed strong ties to the Catholic community from the building stones. With over 1,500 years of Benedictine heritage, the founders believed that inspiring students to succeed was only successful when given the tools needed to achieve their goals, and a strong support community to rely on. Saint Anselm College offered a six year degree program in philosophy and theological studies to qualifying students. This established one of the most vigorous educational curricula in the nation at the time.
Saint Anselm College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is also a member of many prestigious organizations such as The American Council on Education and the National Association of Independent Colleges and universities.
By 1895, Saint Anselm College had established an educational program that offered students the opportunity to explore many different fields of studies and professionals courses. Throughout the changing times, Saint Anselm College has experienced the change of many presidencies, global advancements and accomplishments in cultural acceptance. It is through these experiences that the College has been able to succeed. Currently, the school has conveyed over 15 centuries of these philosophies to its students and alumni, encouraging nothing less than success and self-fulfillment while maintaining active community service.
Campus Life
Saint Anselm College believes that the true college experience consists of much more than just a strong education inside the classrooms. The campus setting at Saint Anselm provides students with collegiate and intellectual experiences carried out through the daily activities, seminars from professionals and field experts, student organizations and community outreach programs – all which enable students to utilize their coursework hands-on while attending classes. This consistent atmosphere also enables students to build and develop their skills and experiences in a variety of settings, thought to solidify the information.
Many students are actively involved in the organizations, clubs and groups held on campus, as well as the community and volunteer services available. Through these channels, students are able to travel outside of the campus grounds, spreading the Benedictine beliefs and traditions throughout the world. Students are provided the tools they need on campus, to venture out into the world and make their impact. Since the majority of students live on campus, this creates a strong support system of like minds helping each other to succeed.
Students can find several housing options on and off campus including residence halls, apartments and townhouses. Many students prefer to dorm together in order to strengthen their support system and experience college life with their peers, as well as seasoned students. The Office of Residential Life is available to assist students in choosing the right housing options for their goals, which may include matching roommates based on special interests or academic studies. Students have the option to pledge for the various honor societies, fraternities and sorority houses that are spread throughout the campus as well.
Financial Aid
Saint Anselm College supports students in every step of the college experience, especially when it comes to financial aid aspects. All students are encouraged to explore the various funding options offered by the College and third party organizations. Financial aid counselors are available to assist students in preparing for the application process as well as obtaining smaller scale grants to alleviate the costs of books, supplies and personal expenses while attending school.
All students are considered for merit, artistic and need-based grants upon admission to Saint Anselm College. Such scholarships and grant funding can alleviate partial or full tuition costs to help take the stress off of students, giving them ample ability to focus on their academic achievements. Students who are not eligible for such assistance have the opportunity to participate in work-study programs, obtaining employment throughout the campus grounds to help pay for schooling.
