General Recommendations & Requirements for Admissions
Prospective students applying to Brown University must submit the Common Application. A Secondary School Report, a counselor recommendation, and official transcript must be sent from the high school guidance office. A midyear report must be submitted once the seventh-semester grades are finalized.
Applicants must submit SAT or ACT scores. The writing sections of each test are optional. Students are recommended to take and submit scores for two of the SAT Subject Tests.
Prospective students must send a graded essay from a Humanities or Social Studies class taken in the last year. Two teacher recommendations are required by Brown University, though up to four can be submitted through the application system.
