“Where traditional and online education merge,” is Amridge University’s motto. Affiliated with the Church of Christ, Amridge University is a coeducational private liberal arts college in Montgomery, Alabama. The school is dedicated to preparing students through academic excellence and spiritual vitality. Upon graduation administrators of the school hope students will be ready for a lifetime of leadership and service in both their professional and private lives.
Amridge University enrolls approximately 800 students and is located on one acre of land. It is adjourned to the Auburn University campus. It has nearly 60 full-time and over 25 part-time faculty members that teach both traditional classes as well as online courses ensuring that students get the best education possible.
Unlike most colleges and universities Amridge is dedicated to teaching students both in person and online. Fairly new to the college world, online education gives students freedom to go to school when and where they want. Amridge offers all their majors online. Offering online degrees allows students from all walks of live and all ages the opportunity to get a higher education. It enables students who cannot physically attend a four-year college a way to get a degree.
Amridge University offers approximately 30 undergraduate and graduate degrees ranging from a Bachelors of Business in Ministerial Leadership to a Bachelors of Science in Public Safety and Homeland Security.
Student History
Previously called Alabama Christian School of Religion, Southern Christian University, Regions University, and Alabama Christian College, Amridge University was founded in 1942 and was originally a seminary to train ministers in the Bible. It later became a four-year college and was awarded its first baccalaureate degree in 1953.
Campus Life
The one-acre campus consists of one two-story complex. Each floor has classrooms that houses multimedia equipment and comes with internet access fit for online lectures and classes.
Amridge University has no resident halls as students commute to school. It does not have any clubs or organizations and no known athletic team. The college caters to non-traditional students in the sense that the average age of students attending Amridge University is 35 years.
For students who do commute to campus, Montgomery is an excellent city to live in. It provides students with resources to further their careers. The capital of Alabama, there are over 205,000 residents that live in the city. Students can get a part-time job to help pay for tuition or they can apply for an internship related to their major.
Among the normal activities that a big city has to offer, Montgomery has rich cultural ties to the Civil Rights Movement including the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the infamous walks from Selma to Montgomery in hopes of equal rights for all American citizens regardless of the color of one’s skin.
Financial Aid
The financial aid department at Amridge University offers financial aid to students who qualify in the form of scholarships, loans, and grants for students. Tuition at the university costs $15,000 a semester with the average aid package being around $5,500. Eighty-five percent of all students that go to Ambridge University receive some form of financial aid.
Amridge University offers Military aid to students who have previously served our country. They offer Military students and their spouses a discounted price on tuition. as well as waiving multiple fees that when combined save the student over $500.
